EDM Demos
Three remixes of the same electronic track using different sonic motifs:
With Demo 1, I was experimenting with creating tension between all of the synthesizers, like they are trying to talk over one another but none of them are quite loud enough to get a full sentence in.
Demo 2 takes the melody in a more familiar, EDM-music-festival-style direction. I was trying to see if I could create something that people could really dance to.
Demo 3 combines the ideas of Demos 1 and 2. I would say it’s still something you could dance to, but a little more experimental than Demo 2
Hip-Hop, Trap, Hyperpop
In the 2010s, trap music exploded in popularity, with artists like Migos, Future, and Drake dominating the charts with their hits. This new wave of hip-hop music was characterized by its use of hard-hitting 808s, bouncy beats, and catchy melodies, as well as its focus on luxury and excess. Today, trap music is a dominant force in the world of hip-hop and continues to evolve and incorporate new sounds and influences.
Although seemingly unrelated, hyperpop is a recent subgenre of EDM that has emerged in the last few years, championed by artists such as Charli XCX, 100 Gecs, and mdwxst. It is characterized by its high-energy, fast-paced sound, with heavy use of synthesizers, vocal effects, and other electronic production techniques. Many hyperpop artists have more recently been influenced by trap music. Trap's dark, bass-heavy sound has been blended with the upbeat, energetic style of hyperpop to create a new, high-intensity musical style.
Audiodrama
Audio drama is a form of storytelling that is told through spoken dialogue and sound effects, rather than through visual media such as film or television. It is often produced as a radio play, but can also be distributed through podcasts or other audio formats. Audio drama can be fictional or non-fictional and can cover a wide range of genres, from comedies and thrillers to historical dramas and science fiction. Many audio dramas are known for their high-quality voice acting and sound design, which help to create a rich and immersive listening experience for the audience. Audio drama has a long and storied history, dating back to the early days of radio, and continues to be a popular and engaging form of storytelling to this day.
